Keighley Cultural Festival | Bradford District Activities Guide

As part of the Keighley Youth Service Kickstarter learning, we will be hosting our cultural festival in the heart of Keighley. Community culture is so important to ensure that we understand our friends, family and neighbors. All-day community jukebox (bring your own vinyl to spin!). Lydia Pearce as our lovely MC for the day, introducing everyone to our numbers AND our booths! In partnership with Poetry’s Not Boring – poets Bernie The Bolt (Punk Poet), Noor Noor and Barbara Howerska. Raffle with prizes from local donations, raising funds for flood appeal in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Amazing Arabic calligraphy by Farzana Khan, running a workshop from 2-4pm! Acoustic singer-songwriter Will performs as WaterLemon. Tai Chi Workshops from Truly Essential – Val Preston! Eden Community Association offers traditional Bangladeshi games along with 3 incredibly talented henna artists with exquisite hand designs. Punjabi Roots will open the festival with their famous Dohl Drumming! A Bollywood performance by Deeba as well as dance workshops. Films from The People Library and Refugee Film Festival shown in the community cinema. There will be craft activities run by volunteers throughout the day. Cultural consultation with Jean McEwan in partnership with Keighley Library. A range of craft stalls from local artisans including Rugged Raven Creations, Kindred Bizarre and Rambling Art. Food courtesy of The Good Food Project Keighley, Rachael Neild is our lovely caterer for the day, pay how you feel only! For the last hour of the event, we have an Open Mic Hour. Come play for us!
